Sadguru Siddharameshwar (1888 -1936)
Shri Sadguru Siddharameshwar Maharaj is a little known saint of modern India. During his time he was head of the Inchegeri branch of the Navnath Sampradaya, the ‘Nine Masters’ tradition in the Advaita Vedanta. He was the teacher and mentor to many other distinguished Advaita Vedanta teachers, such as: Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Sri Ranjit Maharaj, and Sri Ramana Maharshi. Siddharameshwar was a master of meditation after spending nine months continuously sitting on a raised platform like a minaret meditating. He experienced a state of Enlightenment, a merging into “Laya”. He was a proponent of the Vihangam Marg (the bird's way), teaching that this way was the fastest way to achieve Enlightenment. Between 1925 and 1936, he taught what he had learned in order to attain Enlightenment. He wrote one book, the Master Key to Final Realization, which was published in Marathi. It was later translated into English.

Summary
He was born in 1888, in a small village called “Pathri” in Sholapur, India. At the age of sixteen, he took a job as an accountant. A few years later, he met his guru, Shri Bhausaheb Maharaj, who taught him “Meditation”. In 1914, his guru passed away. Maharaj started teaching meditation and then in 1918, he renounced the world joining four other disciples in order to popularize his master’s teachings. In 1920, while on tour teaching, Maharaj thought that he should go beyond meditation and explore; as he believed meditation was the initial step towards final reality. The other disciples disagreed with Maharaj and so he set out on a solo path of meditation and contemplation. He eventually achieved Enlightenment and spent the rest of his life teaching what he had learned. He died on November 9, 1936, at the age of forty-eight in Mumbai.
