Lungdok Gyaltsen HH Lama Achuk Rinpoche(1927 - )
HH Achuk Rinpoche, is an incarnation of the great terton Longsel Nyingpo (1625 – 1682), who was an incarnation of Amitabha Buddha. Lama Achuk Rinpoche is one of the great modern day teachers and the head of the Nyingma Sect of Tibetan Buddhism in China. After 43 years in retreat with his master, Tulku Arik Rinpoche, he founded the Yarchen Vddiyana Meditation Monastery in 1985. The monastery is an encampment in an isolated valley 4000 miles above sea level in Garze, Kham, Sichuan in Western China. Today it has an estimated 10,000 members many of whom are Sangha nuns. The living conditions are said to be lacking in lodgings and retreat facilities. Food, water, and clothes are in short supply. With living conditions being so difficult, the Sanghas diligently practice the Buddha Dharma and to seek liberation from Samsara. HH Achuk Rinpoche sees the purpose of the Monastery to be one of reviving and passing on the Termas (teachings) of the natural world giving students a more comprehensive Buddhist education. Lama Achuk Rinpoche is said to have supernatural powers and discover numerous Terma in mountains, rivers, oceans, and lakes. As a realized Buddhist master, Achuk Rinpoche is regarded as one of the world's greatest living exponents of the Great Perfection Teaching.

Summary
His Holiness Lama Achuk Rinpoche was born in Trom, Eastern Tibet. His birth was foretold by Guru Rinpoche. He was a bright child, teaching himself how to read and write at a young age. He desperately wished to become ordained. He was in a cave one day when he saw a lot of texts written on the walls in dakini script and began to study them. At the age of fifteen, he was finally ordained at the Trom Dokho Monastery. [1] After that, he studied and served many of the teachers of the Sakya, Nyingma, and Gelugpa lineages. When he turned eighteen, he began to study and serve Tulku Arik Rinpoche. Tulku Arik Rinpoche was to become his main teacher and he helped him learn the realizations of the Great Perfection the exponents of Dzogchen. The two men would spend 40 years together in retreat. When China invaded Tibet in 1959, the two men were separated. Lama Achuk Rinpoche was captured and was tortured, beaten, and starved. He used these horrific experiences to fuel his meditation abilities. Eventually, he became a free man and once again began to teach people, not just monastic people, but also lay people. He eventually established the Yachen Gar, where he is the abbot in Sichuan. [2]
