Galip Hassan Kuscuoglu is the successor to Hadji Mustafa Yardimedici. He has been a spiritual authority for over 51 years and is said to have over a million disciples. In his youth he was a successful carpenter. Hassan wanted more out of life and decided to dedicate his life to Islam. He is the founder of the Galibi Order which is a branch of Sufi tariga which comes from the synthesizing of many of the teachings of the traditions of Qadri and Rifai. It was called the Qadiri-Rufai order until 1993, it then began to be called after Galibi in honor of it’s sheikh, Galip Hassan Kuscuglu. Today, the Galibi order is seen as one of the great Sufi orders in the world with respect to its organizational structure and the number of its Turkish and foreign members. Kuscuoglu has also opened a foundation, Kuşçuoğlu Kültür ve eğitim Vakfı, which works to help the poor and needy. |

Summary
Galip Hassan Kuscuoglu was born on March 27, 1919 in Corum. He comes from a long line of Islamic scholars, such as Ali Kuscu, a famous astronomer from the Soltan Fatih Mehmed period. He spent his early years in Corum and Samsun. After dropping out of high school, Kuscuolglu became an apprentice to a carpenter and eventually becoming a successful carpenter in his own right. At the age of 19 he got married whilst working as a carpenter, Hassan spent much of his free time in prayer and worship. In 1948, at the age of 29, Kuscuoglu moved to Ankara where he worked as a carpenter. Still he found himself continually searching for his own sheik or teacher. He eventually found his sheik in the form of Sheikh Hadji Mustafa Yardimedici from Maras, who was the Sheik of Kadiri and Rufai. Hassan served as Yardimedici's apprentice for 12 years, until Yardimedici's death in 1968. Hassan was initiated and became a sheik himself. In 1995, he was honoured with a path called "Galibi" on behalf his name that has not been vouchsafed to any saint of God for many years and he established the Galibi order. He continuously encourages his disciples in science with the principle that one who opposes science keeps out of his dervish convent. [1]
