Sant Kirpal Singh was considered by many to be a Perfect Master of the Sant Mat tradition “the Way of the Saints of India”. He was a disciple of Baba Sawan Singh, one of the great teachers of the 20th century. He is said to have dedicated his life to the ideal of unity of all religions and the brotherhood of man. He taught that man should strive for attain self-knowledge and in turn God-knowledge. He was widely regarded and gained many followers from all over the world. He was a strong advocate of the importance of having a living guru or master; a person who could pass on ancient knowledge and help assist the soul on its path home to God. For over fourteen years, he was president of the World Fellowship of Religions, which was founded in 1957. He took part in three world tours in 1955, 1963, and 1972 meeting with many of the top religious leaders and politicians throughout the world. One of his lasting legacies can be found in the wealth of writing he left behind. All of it is without copyright he said, “The gifts of God, like sunlight, are all free.” |

Sant Kirpal Singh was born on February 6th,1894, in Sayyad Kasran, in the western part of the Punjab, which now belongs to Pakistan. Little is known about Sant Kirpal Singh’s early life. What is known, is that he was a follower of Baba Sawan Singh and he later went on to have his own spiritual mission. In his lifetime, he wrote many books and traveled widely. He died on August 21st,1974, without publicly naming a successor. Many believed that Sant Ajaib Singh was his successor and greatest legacy. He expressed no interest in creating a new religion, his mission was one of calling people back to God through self-knowledge.
