Mahraz Darshan Das (SNDM) (1953 - 1987)
Maharaz Darshan Das was the founder and spiritual leader of the Sachkhand Nanak Dham Mission. The mission was founded in 1973, after a vision in which Darshan was told he had been sent with a divine message to awaken souls to the truth, heal the sick, and to show them the path to spirituality. His new spiritual humanitarian mission spread from India to around the world, attracting followers from all walks of life. Mahraz encouraged people to find a living teacher who could guide them to the attainment of Enlightenment. He was a social reformer, a missionary, a humanitarian, and a visionary. As his popularity grew, he received opposition from orthodox Sikhs. In 1987, he was gunned down at a meeting in Southall, England. Many believed this to be the work of religious extremists. While many others believe it was retribution for an alleged rape of a young female devotee.
